The TJ Awards 2017 – recognising the best in Learning & Development practice
The TJ Awards have supported those involved in Workplace Learning & Development for over 50 years. Now in their 12th year, the awards’ categories allow a broad range of companies to participate and reflect the increasing diversity in the Learning & Development landscape.
The nominees for the TJ Awards 2017 have just been announced and MCP is pleased to report that our valued customer, Thames Water, is a finalist in the Best Operational Programme Category for its ‘Engineering UpSkilling Programme’, of course, delivered by MCP.
Like 36% of companies surveyed*, Thames Water was struggling to recruit skilled maintenance technicians. Working with MCP, Thames Water has been developing their own people, giving them mechanical and electrical skills.
MCP has delivered maintenance training for more than 25 years and has developed standard training material in mechanical and electrical. This material was adapted for Thames Water but adapted to put more emphasis on pumps and valves, as these components are very common across the Thames Water estate.
Sixteen electrical and sixteen mechanical candidates went through the off job training with MCP. All delegates completed the practical competence assessments and City and Guilds Accredited exams successfully.
Candidates are now going through a structured on-job training package. The result of this work is making a real difference within Thames Water.
This year the finale of TJ Awards 2017 will take place at a Gala Dinner at the Brewery on Tuesday 5th December when the winners of all 16 categories will be announced.
MCP wishes Thames Water good luck.
