Multi-Skilling with MCP’s training improves your operational efficiency
MCP’s Mechanical Maintenance Skills training course is designed for delegates with some tool skills, the programme provides hands-on practical training to improve delegates’ mechanical skills and reduce downtime. It is an 8-day programme which is delivered as two 4-day modules.
Outcome
Successful completion of this training course will mean the candidate has passed a range of practical competence assessments and a written assessment covering knowledge and understanding. This will enable the participants to carry out specific mechanical tasks back in the workplace with some initial ‘on-job’ support.
Certification
A City & Guilds 2273 in Mechanical Maintenance Skills can be achieved on completion of both parts.
Mechanical Maintenance Skills Part 1 – Course Content:
- Health and Safety
- Plain Bearings, Materials and Lubrication
- Tolerances and use of Limits and Fits
- Straight Line Couplings
- Fixings and Fastenings
- Types of Pump
- Identification of Pipelines
- Power Transmissions: flat belt, vee belt drives, roller chain drives.

Mechanical Maintenance Skills Part 2 – Course Content
- Health and Safety
- Seals: static and dynamic, materials and uses, methods of installing
- Power Transmissions: toothed belt drives, gear and gearbox characteristics, angular joints and fluid couplings.
- Lubrication: application and selection of grades.
- Bearings:high speed plain bearings, rolling element bearings.
