Control and Instrumentation Course Aims
MCP’s Control and Instrumentation training course is designed for delegates with some electrical skills but no previous knowledge of industrial control. It is an 8-day programme which is divided into two 4-day parts. After completing Parts 1 and 2 delegates will receive a City and Guilds accredited qualification. The training course gives engineers the practical skills and knowledge to undertake a number of industrial control tasks.
Course Content
- Measurement systems including error measurement, level measurement, flow measurement and temperature measurement
- Calibration
- Testing and fault finding
- Pressure measurement, pressure gauges and recorders
Assessment
Practical competence-based assessments and a short answer written paper to test knowledge and understanding.

Certification
Following satisfactory completion of the programme, a MCP certificate will be issued.
Control & Instrumentation Training Course – Part 2 Aims
This training programme is designed for delegates who have attended Part 1 of the programme. It gives engineers practical skills and knowledge to undertake a number of industrial control tasks.
Course Content
- Signal processing devices
- Response times
- Current transmission } – Transmission including
- Voltage transmission } – pneumatics
- I/P and P/I conversion
- Open and closed loop control systems
- Tune 1, 2, and 3 term controllers
- Valves and valve positioners.
Assessment
Practical competence-based assessments and a short answer written paper to test knowledge and understanding.

4 days
Certification
Following completion of the programme, a City and Guilds accredited Control and Instrumentation Certificate will be issued.
