The Scottish Manufacturing Advisory Service (SMAS) commissioned MCP Consulting and Training to develop a Lean toolkit for use by their in-house consultants in assisting manufacturing organisations throughout Scotland.
The training, along with a Lean toolkit, also developed by MCP, ensured that SMAS consultants provide a superior and more consistent support service to ambitious organisations throughout Scotland. The improvement programme was designed to support the SMAS mission of “providing direct, practical, hands on intervention with manufacturers to support improvement projects and raise awareness of best practice.”
The training consisted of a series of core modules delivered in workshops and syndicate sessions, illustrating best Lean practice. The modules covered programme management, Lean engagement, Lean leadership, value stream mapping and 5S.
The Lean toolkit incorporated analysis tools, guides and procedures and supported Scottish Enterprise consultants to deliver the appropriate tool to each business, and ultimately raise awareness of Lean principles.
