Inspection, Testing and Certification of Electrical Installations

Test and Inspection Training Course Aims

Developed in association with the National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting (NICEIC) to train delegates in the requirements of BS7671 for Inspection, Testing and Certification of Electrical Installations.

The Scheme is aimed at people with current practical experience of both Inspection and Testing of LV Electrical Installations.  In addition to practical experience, delegates must possess a current knowledge of the requirements of BS7671 (17th Edition) including the latest amendments to City and Guilds 2382 standard.

Content

- Safety and Legislation
- Inspection and Equipment Marking
- Guidance on Instrumentation and acceptable test methods and readings
- Completing documentation and recording deviations

Assessment

Practical competence tests including installation inspection, insulation resistance test, phase earth loop impedance test and periodic inspection report completion.  A written paper is used to test knowledge and understanding.

Certification

Successful candidates will be awarded a City and Guilds 2391 Certificate.

Duration

3 days (08.30 - 15.30 hours each day) plus separate assessments.
Practical     - 4 hours (within 4 weeks of course)
Written      - 2.5 hour evening exam
